My more modest goal is not to end up throwing the cake across the room in frustration.

Jenn,
I like to see what people pick too. I noticed that no one did the holiday pinecone cake. Granted, it's not exactly pinecone cake weather.

ECL,
I ordered the strawberry butter months ago because I also loved the sound of this cake--I don't know why it took so long to get around to actually put it on the list. I hope we like it.Mariehttp://heavenlycakeplace.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-16326147745730782752010-06-03T12:14:33.170-07:002010-06-03T12:14:33.170-07:00Great post, Marie! I don't know about everybody else, but it makes me feel like we are experts in the field.

I've been looking forward to the choc/strawberry ever since my copy of Heavenly Cakes arrived, so I'm really excited to baking this!evil cake ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09028488030328153196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-88771437004520712212010-06-03T08:47:43.984-07:002010-06-03T08:47:43.984-07:00Nice write up Marie!

And this cake falls on Tom's birthday weekend, all I have to do is convince him that this is the proper birthday cake, instead of those baby thingies - I'm not dealing again with scaling water.

Dawn, I know we suck you right in don't we? jejejeMonicahttp://www.sweetbitesblog.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-74836300828216441262010-06-02T21:30:42.511-07:002010-06-02T21:30:42.511-07:00As briefly noted in my post, I also made the Choco...As briefly noted in my post, I also made the Chocolate strawberry cake this past weekend--to great acclaim. I didn't have any trouble with the frosting, but I wasn't going to win any decorating contests either at the speed I was going--I was breaking improperly cooled cake layers right and left. The frosting poured well, though, and if I had had my layers cut neat and tidy, I think it would have been quite easy. The cake WAS fragile, though--maybe freeze before frosting?Katyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04837602358691420117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-19469760645878725152010-06-02T20:21:57.560-07:002010-06-02T20:21:57.560-07:00"frosting impaired"....heaven help us! ..."frosting impaired"....heaven help us! I got together with a friend today, and we baked the quick bread and the apricot lacquer rolled up cake (too tired to get up and check the actual names). Recipes easy to follow, and the batter was yummy!! I'm bringing them to work tomorrow, so I'll find out then how they taste, but they smelled so good, they can't taste too bad!Otavahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00477769184782582439noreply@blogger.com
