I didn't pooh-pooh so much as note...I'll state for the record that I have NOT been making ladyfingers since childhood, but owe all my ladyfinger prowess to Rose. I just really really like making and eating them. I think I'm more willing to go to the trouble when I really like the end result. Also, not being quite such a perfectionist as some on this team helps with the satisfaction factor, although I have certainly made lesser batches.

So looking forward to sticky toffee...I love sticky toffee pudding so much.Katyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04837602358691420117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-76311586640349156042011-02-24T01:30:29.516-08:002011-02-24T01:30:29.516-08:00Just checking in from Las Vegas, en route to Austi...Just checking in from Las Vegas, en route to Austin and Boca Raton before Poland. What a busy crew you've been! The pudding sounds fab, (where is Nicola anyway?) I may have to whip that up in my daughter's kitchen while in FL.

Nancy B - if you're not a fan of drinking stout, try it in a beef stew. Although to be fair, I didn't bake a whole wedding cake this weekend, just three 6 in cakes that will become a wedding cake in July.

I'm excited for the toffee pudding! Now if only I'd been able to find a singleton of Guiness Extra Stout instead of buying a six-pack to get the half cup I need. I should have gone with the ginger ale idea!NancyBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02932498557111486912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-18736209391601902852011-02-23T20:10:56.969-08:002011-02-23T20:10:56.969-08:00Thanks for another great write-up, Marie. I still ...Thanks for another great write-up, Marie. I still have some brownie bars in the freezer and whenever the choc craving strikes, I'll have my "fix" for it :o)
As for next week's cake, the "pudding", I've already made it (I know, it never happened before). I like dates so I made the full recipe using ginger ale (thanks for the tip!). A little over half the batter went into a 8"x8" square cake pan, and the remaining batter was split between two round 6" cake pans. Those 2 little cakes are in my freezer so I can quickly whip up a layer cake when I'm pressed for time. The cake is really good. The date flavor is subtle but definitely noticeable. I used Medjool dates for this. Happy baking everyone!Hanaâhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15660317268731033542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882070718279731833.post-26221785414300971822011-02-23T18:46:19.860-08:002011-02-23T18:46:19.860-08:00Everyone did so good... it's wed and I'm i...Everyone did so good... it's wed and I'm in the middle of interviews (1 down, 2 more to go), I'm still sick with a cold and my eggs have been out since SUNDAY! for the Coconut cake... guess that's not going to happen now... but it was great to see everyone's free choice.. it's like a surprise every time we do it.Monicahttp://www.sweetbitesblog.com/noreply@blogger.com
